Antarctic beauty.
“90° – South” is an artistic project that examines how matter carries the memory of the world.
Through a series of sculptures created from driftwood collected off the coast of Antarctica, I seek to explore the traces left by human activities even in the most remote regions of the planet.
My work offers a sensory experience in which the sculpture becomes a silent witness to the transformations of life — towards rebirth.
WOOD REBIRTH
Driftwood, shaped by time, the elements, and ocean currents, becomes a metaphor for our own existence. Like it, we are continually shaped by the encounters, experiences, and transformations that enrich our lives.
Each fragment of wood carries the memory of its unique journey.
My artistic practice consists of revealing this hidden memory and giving the wood a new voice — allowing it to embrace a new form, a new story, and a new life.
WHY ANTARCTICA ?
Antarctica is one of the last great territories where nature remains sovereign—a place of extraordinary beauty and resilience. Yet even in this remote environment, we can perceive the subtle traces of our shared presence on Earth.
Working with driftwood collected from this landscape allows me to explore the invisible connections that unite us across oceans and continents.
The material becomes a silent witness to a world without boundaries—a symbol of our deeply interconnected planet, where every action has the power to shape the world we share.
KEY PARTNER – BULGARIAN ANTARCTIC INSTITUTE
The trust and support of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI) open an exceptional space for artistic exploration. This partnership creates a unique framework in which art and science come together, offering a sensitive perspective on some of the major human and environmental questions of our time.
Through its experience and logistical infrastructure the Institute makes this artistic expedition possible.
Beyond the practical support, this collaboration reflects a shared belief in the value of dialogue between disciplines and in the power of art to create new ways of seeing and understanding our world.
Artistic practice
For several years now, my work has centered on driftwood, a material whose plastic and symbolic qualities I explore.
Like wood, human beings bear the marks of time, encounters, trials, and transformations. Shaped by salt, water, wind, and sometimes fire, wood retains the memory of its journey. It embodies both the fragility and the resilience of life. It reminds us of our own journey, marked by encounters, wounds, adaptations, and rebirths that shape every existence.
